GENERAL INFORMATION

Transformers for protection or measure, adapted to hard work. Dry or submerged in a refrigerant fluid. Oil transformers are porcelain insulators, with backpacks to hang in an electric pole and an anchor base.

  • Burden: 5-200 VA.
  • Accuracy: 0.1 to 0.6% in measuring equipment and 1 to 5% in protective equipment.
  • Power factor: 0.7 to 1
  • Height: Up to 5500 m.a.s.l.

FUNCTIONS

There are two types of transformers by function: Measure Potential Transformers, which are used to measure the system voltages with minimal error according to Standard. On the other hand, Protection Potential Transformers are used to detect disturbances in the system and voltage variations and allow for the protection elements to solve the problems that could occur.

These types of transformers are used for measurement in three phase electric distribution systems or in single-phase systems, up to 33 [kV], in medium and low voltage, adapting to the requirements of each client.

CHARACTERISTICS

Potential transformers are a robust equipment manufactured and tested according to the ANSI or IEC International Standards. They allow the possibility of operating continuously in any part of the electrical system.

Potential transformers of Class 15 [kV] and above are installed in a sealed metal tanks where they are immersed in mineral or vegetable oil (FR3). They are composed by a rucksack attached to a pole or platform. In addition, to ensure their safety, they are equipped with medium voltage insulators on the lid and a sealed box that contains the secondary terminals, since the system is designed to avoid the intervention of the secondary connectors, when the equipment is energized.
